Patient Configuration
Patients are the people being observed. Each patient belongs to a unit and has an assigned observation level.
Patient Information
| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| Name | Patient's display name |
| MRN | Medical Record Number (for EMR matching) |
| Date of Birth | Used for identification and EMR matching |
| Room | Current room assignment |
| Unit | Unit where patient is located |
| Observation Level | Required observation frequency |
| Status | Current status (admitted, discharged, transferred) |
Adding Patients
Patients can be added:
- Manually - Enter patient information through the UI
- Via EMR - Automatically created from ADT (admit/discharge/transfer) messages
Manual Entry
- Navigate to Patients
- Tap Add Patient
- Enter patient information
- Select observation level
- Assign to a room
- Tap Save
EMR Import
When EMR integration is enabled, patients are automatically:
- Created on ADT A01 (admit) messages
- Updated on ADT A02 (transfer) messages
- Discharged on ADT A03 (discharge) messages
See EMR Integration for setup details.
Risk Flags
Risk flags highlight patients requiring special attention:
| Flag | Description |
|---|---|
| Fall Risk | Patient at elevated risk of falling |
| Elopement Risk | Patient may attempt to leave |
| Self-Harm Risk | Patient at risk of self-harm |
| Assault Risk | Patient may pose risk to others |
Risk flags:
- Display prominently on patient cards
- Can trigger additional sensor monitoring
- Are included in handoff notes
Wearable Assignment
If using sensor hardware, patients can be assigned wearable tags:
- Open patient details
- Navigate to Devices
- Select an available wearable tag
- Confirm assignment
The wearable enables:
- Precise proximity verification
- Fall detection
- Bed exit monitoring
- Elopement detection (with geofencing)
Discharge
When a patient is discharged:
- Open patient details
- Tap Discharge
- Confirm the discharge
Discharged patients:
- No longer appear in active patient lists
- Historical observations remain accessible
- Can be readmitted later (creating a new admission record)
With EMR integration, discharges happen automatically via ADT messages.
