Clinical Workflows
This section explains how clinical staff use Vigil for daily operations.
Overview
Vigil supports these clinical workflows:
- Observations - Documenting patient checks with proximity verification
- Vitals - Recording and monitoring vital signs
- Assessments - Completing standardized clinical assessments
- Alerts - Responding to and resolving alerts
- Shift Management - Managing assignments and handoffs
- EOC Rounds - Environment of care inspections
Workflow Design
Vigil workflows are designed around three principles:
1. Verify Before Document
Staff must prove they were physically present before documenting. This is achieved through:
- UWB/BLE proximity sensors
- Manual override with reason documentation (when sensors unavailable)
2. Minimize Taps
The mobile interface prioritizes speed:
- Quick templates for common observations
- Auto-advance to next patient
- Large touch targets for gloved hands
3. Real-Time Visibility
Supervisors see unit status in real-time:
- Dashboard updates instantly when observations are documented
- Alerts create and escalate automatically
- Compliance metrics recalculate continuously
